hmm, a poor overview of Analysing the flow of ideas and contributor profiles

Characterising the flow or transfer of knowledge in knowledge creating open online communities. Knowledge building as creation of epistemic artefacts shared in a community. Lots of actors, lots of artefacts with induced relationships. given a graph of dependencies between knowledge items, how to identify  the main pathways of the evolution of knowledge? use references (citation links) between publications. Main Path Analysis approach to understand how often different paths or routes are used.

Very technical discussion, mostly going over my head after about 10 mins. Note to self, concentrate harder, it is a best paper nomination after all.

Dr Sharon Slade is a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Business and Law at the Open University in the UK working to support both tutors and students on Open University distance learning modules and programmes. Her research interests encompass ethical issues in learning analytics and online learning and tuition. Project work includes the development of a student support framework to improve retention and progression and the development of a university wide tool for tracking students and triggering relevant and targeted interventions. She led the development of new policy around the ethical use of learning analytics within the Open University, UK.
